"Thought I would send an update. Trip has been great so far, with only a few bumps in the road. At the site of the Battle of the Somme (sorrowful is the best word) yesterday and at the Vimy Ridge commemorative service today. Weather was CHALLENGING, but kids were fabulous. Off to Juneau beach tomorrow (D-day) and looking forward to it."

Dancers Celebrate Victory!
On Wednesday, PCVS Dancers competed in the Strive Dance Challenge. Eighteen high schools from across Ontario competed. PCVS Dance brought 18 dances to compete with.
Our dancing Raiders won countless Platinum and Diamond awards which means that we received an average of over 92% on all of our entries. We won two judges choice awards for choreography and performance. Jen Carter was chosen as the only female recipient of a summer dance scholarship.
Our high marks earned us the title of second OVERALL school team at the competition. Check out our trophy in the office.
And, in two weeks we head to the Kiwanis dance festival to try to do it all again!

Danny Davolos and PCVS Dance
On the last day of semester one, the dance program hosted a world renowned guest choreographer. Danny Davolos is the owner of the prestigious OIP Dance Center in Toronto. He has choreographed and worked for artists such as Shawn Desman, Luther Brown, Rihanna, Keisha Chante, Sean Paul, Ricky Martin, and Shakira.
Mr. Davolos taught hip hop workshops to all semester one classes. He was a great teacher and the students were truly inspired by his passion for the art form. Then he went home and created a short montage of his time at PCVS. Enjoy (and just TRY to sit still for this!)

ESL Raiders Skating Party
Last week some of our Raiders in the ESL program tried ice skating for the very first time, and some are now pros after a couple of years living in Canada. As you can see from the photos, they all had a blast!

PCVS ESL Students Cheers On The Petes
A group of students from PCVS's ESL programme went to the Petes game Thursday night - some to see their first hockey game ever! They joined in on the Teddy Bear Toss and made it onto the news on Chex TV.

PCVS Stairwell Singers Impress
Seems our own Kate Macdonald and Janelle Blanchard are making a splash with their new video, recorded in the stairwell at PCVS. The song is a cover of Neko Case's "Star Witness." Miss Case has reportedly heard the song and was impressed , tweeting "Wow. That just made me bawl my eyes out. What beautiful singers. I'm not worthy...
