The Worst Opening Line Contest
"As he drove forlornly away from his love, his one true love, he gazed at the expansive skyline of the grimy city and sighed the sigh of a thousand disappointments." Bet you can't you do WORSE than that! Or can you? Here's the challenge - write the WORST opening line for a novel EVER and you could win a fabulous prize.
Sponsored by SMAC (Students Make Art Collective).
Entries due: February 29. Hand in to Room 1.
Be sure to include your name and homeroom so we can deliver your prize!

Raiders are Flashy and a Bit Mobbish When Spread(ing) The Net Around Town

A whole PILE of Raiders were at Lansdowne Place on Saturday, heck it was more like a MOB, and just around noon, they got itchy feet and started dancing. It was CRAZY. And there was drumming and people with signs and everywhere you looked there was another Raider! So, are Raiders just big shoppers or what? NO - They were raising awareness and MONEY for Spread the Net, enough to buy 190 more anti-malarial nets! There are only a few days left to the deadline (February 29!) for our chance to appear on the Rick Mercer Report, but there are still lots of opportunities to put the Raider Spirit to work.

Spread the Word to Spread the Net
Your mission, should you choose to accept it (and you should!), is to get in touch with Raiders all over the globe to pitch in for this worthy cause. Skype Great Aunt Raider in Germany, call second-cousin Raider in Japan, or write a letter (on paper if you have to!) to Grampa Raider in Aus and get them in the Raider spirit. Spread the word to Spread The Net!

$10 buys one net. You can:
  • send a cheque to the school (made out to PCVS - Spread the Net)
  • purchase a Spread the Net Valentine gift card at the school
  • or donate online in the name of PCVS at http://goo.gl/oyHD3
  • Tax receipts for donations $25 or more will be issued by the Belinda Stronach Foundation
  • Watch the video of 2011 winners
Contact teacher Mr. Douglas (cameron_douglas@kprdsb.ca) or see student coordinators Allie Grady or Ava Brown-Mantha for more information. More...

Danny Davolos and PCVS Dance
On the last day of semester one, the dance program hosted a world renowned guest choreographer. Danny Davolos is the owner of the prestigious OIP Dance Center in Toronto. He has choreographed and worked for artists such as Shawn Desman, Luther Brown, Rihanna, Keisha Chante, Sean Paul, Ricky Martin, and Shakira.

Mr. Davolos taught hip hop workshops to all semester one classes. He was a great teacher and the students were truly inspired by his passion for the art form. Then he went home and created a short montage of his time at PCVS. Enjoy (and just TRY to sit still for this!)

Hey! Where did all the pictures go?
After they've been on this page for a while, pictures, slideshows and videos of what our Raiders are up to, get moved to the What's Been Happening? page. Photos of art go to the PCVS Art Gallery. Look at the bottom of the list to your left for the permanent links. And reminisce about a busy and amazing year at PCVS.
